Year 2025 is coming to an end, and every year ends of course with the wine season. Between November and December, the barrels of new wine are opened, and the wonderful product of the vineyards becomes a red or golden liquid in crystal glasses! Mount Etna, with its many vineyards, is now a guarantee of quality. And for the opening of the “2025 new wine,” some names have resonated well in the European and global winemaking scene. If you want to know where to find the best Etna wine tastings this year, follow our advice.

The best traditional wineries

Tradition holds that Etna’s best vineyards are those on the northern flank, between the territories of Piedimonte and Randazzo. In fact, along with the vineyards of Zafferana Etnea and Milo (on the eastern side), these territories have given birth to the most famous Etna wine brands. The particular composition of the soil, with less exposure to the sun’s heat in summer, makes the wines from this flank of the volcano truly unique. The wineries of Etna North consistently win the “best wine” award, and among these, again for 2025, we highlight:

Palmento Costanzo (Passopisciaro): highly appreciated for tastings. In addition to table wines, the winery produces excellent sparkling wines and also offers hospitality for those who wish to stay in the area and perhaps participate in “life in the vineyard.” https://www.palmentocostanzo.com/vini-plamentocostanzo/

Emilio Sciacca (Linguaglossa): this winery is renowned for its focus on completely natural production, combining it with a modern and captivating aesthetic, thanks to labels designed by experts. https://www.emiliosciaccaetnawine.it/

Cantine Patria in Solicchiata was born from the genius of a refined businessman who, from Monreale in the district of Palermo – where he already owned numerous vineyards, decided to capitalize on the unique volcanic soils of Etna. So he launched his own production also there. This winning idea has made Cantine Patria one of the best, consistently. https://cantinepatria.it/

Cottanera and Cantine Tornatore, in Castiglione di Sicilia, are undisputed quality brands. The Cottanera winery ( https://cottanera.it/ ) has always described itself as “the” wines of Etna, as if to emphasize the absolute uniqueness of its products; Tornatore ( https://www.tornatorewine.com/ ) invites tourists to visit all its vineyards, scattered throughout the area, and to taste carefully selected delicacies to pair with the house wines.

The timeless wineries

These are the Etna wineries that have long linked the Sicilian volcano to tourism and constant innovation. Among the best in 2025, on the southern slope, is Tenuta Serafica (in Nicolosi, website: https://serafica.it/ ): known not only for its vines but also for its olive trees and local food products, it loves creating experiential tours that even combine daring combinations (for example, olive oil and wine).

To the east, along the road leading to Milo—a village chosen as a retreat by Italian celebrities —is the captivating Barone di Villagrande winery. The vast expanse of sun-kissed vineyards guarantees a wine with unique characteristics, and there are many events made to enjoy it; the Barone Villagrande winery in fact organizes concerts, shows, and excursions (in the nearby woods, also owned by the family). https://www.villagrande.it/

The elegant quality of Donnafugata Cantina Randazzo Etna wines hasn’t lost any ground in the rankings either: it remains one of the best-reviewed establishments in 2025. https://visit.donnafugata.it/it/

The wineries of young Etna people

Younger winemakers are increasingly returning to invest in their homeland, and Etna rewards their resourcefulness with new, excellent, and modern wines—as expected from under-forties!

Two stand out in 2025. On the western slope of Etna, the Podere dell’Etna Segreta winery (in the municipality of Biancavilla) is an old vineyard restored by the Grasso family and transformed into a tourist accommodation and winery. In particular, the young siblings Rosario, Emma, and Francesca are making the winery an international name, creating successful events and initiatives in Sicily and around the world. https://www.poderedelletnasegreta.it/il-podere/

Cantina Maugeri (Milo) was awarded Best Emerging Winery in 2025, thanks to the owner’s young daughters, who have brought a modern touch to the products of this spectacular winery, located in the Praino neighbourhood… just a few steps from the estate of the famous singer, Maestro Franco Battiato, their illustrious neighbour who lived, worked and died here!
