Sicily is one of the most popular destinations for the Italian summer. Because of its beautiful beaches, the island is haunted by many VIPs and is an ideal holiday region.

Four beaches have just been awarded with the “Blue Flag” by the FEE (Foundation for Environmental Education) for their cleanliness of seawater. Among them, the beaches of Lipari and Vulcano, Ispica Santa Maria del Focallo, Marina di Ragusa and the beach of Sciacca in the province of Agrigento.

But there are also many other popular destinations. First of all, Marina di Ragusa, which is one of the most famous beach resorts in eastern Sicily and is particularly noted for its fine golden sand beaches.

Not far away is the beach of Punta Secca, a small fishing village, called “in sicca” by the local population and famous due to the TV Series “Montalbano”.

Located between Noto and Ragusa is the beach of Calamosche a small sandy bay, between two rocky outcrops surrounded by sand dunes, with crystal clear water and the nature reserve Vendicari, one of the most pristine places in Sicily. Also here, the sea is crystal clear.

In the west of the island, not far from Sciacca, you will find another one of the most famous beaches: Capo Passero. Here the sea is deep, but absolutely wonderful.

Concentrated in the northwest of the island there are three unique beaches: San Vito lo Capo, Scopello and Terrasini. The first two are part of the Riserva dello Zingaro. White sand and the sea laced with rocks. Terrasini is characterised by its red rocks, which are crossed by white veins.

Directly across from the Aeolian Islands, in the province of Messina, lies the holiday destination: Capo d’Orlando. The beach is just over 8 km long, and due to its width you can observe the fiery red sunset in the west and watch the sun come up in the east.
