After the severe storm of Sunday night, Mount Etna now also makes itself felt again after a long time. Although the eruptive phase of the previous evening was already the 5th in the new year, it was only now reported.

Between the old and the new South-East crater, a light was visible on Monday evening, a clear indication of a slight Strombolian activity. Yesterday, however, lava and ash fountains could be spotted over Mount Etna. For a long time, the volcano was silent. The last noteworthy eruption took place in May last year. To welcome the new year, he donates us some drumbeats again. Catania airport is currently not affected by the activity, as the wind drives the ash to the east.
